The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) have not reached a result in collective agreement negotiations. As a result, dockworkers have begun a strike early on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024. The strike is expected to last for several weeks.
The strike affects cargo entering or leaving the USA East Coast and the Gulf Coast ports. In addition, its effects will ripple through other trade routes and regions due to the interconnected nature of global trade. Several carriers have announced additional fees for cargo moving to and from terminals at the USA East Coast and Gulf Coast ports during the strike. We kindly ask our customers to prepare for delays and possible additional fees, which we will inform and agree upon separately.
The strike is expected to increase the demand for air freight transportation, so we recommend our customers contact us as soon as possible regarding air freight needs.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the strike.
