Finnish Transport Workers' Union (AKT) Participate in Possible Industrial Action on December 14, 2023
The Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK) and its affiliated unions opposes the Finnish government’s plans to weaken employee rights and social security. A 24-hour long work stoppage involving several industries will take place on the 14th of December, unless the government engages in discussions with the trade unions.
Finnish Transport Workers' Union (AKT) has announced their participation in industrial action together with SAK and its affiliated unions. The industrial action will involve several industries within AKT. The possible work stoppage concerns stevedores, terminal operations, freight forwarding terminals and port workers. The strike will start on Thursday 14th of December at 6:00 am and end on Friday 15th of December at 6:00 am. Full list of impacted companies can be found from the AKT website.
The industrial action will stop the normal container traffic at ports and affect domestic and foreign truck and trailer traffic. It will also cause extensive changes to delivery schedules and transport capacities.
