Back Political Strikes in Finnish Ports will end 8th of April

The political strikes will end on Monday 8 April 2024 at 6.00, after four weeks. The Central Organization of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK) and its member unions, including the Finnish Transport Workers’ Union (AKT) announced today that they will end the political strikes at this point.

Sea logistics:
We process import shipments in order of arrival. As soon as possible, we will send more detailed information about the arrival of the shipments to the recipients, as well as information about the shipping companies' additional costs that may arise due to the strike. Export schedules are still open due to the strike impact on schedules. The congestion caused by the strike will also affect the processing times of both import and export shipments.

Air logistics:
Some of the air freight shipments includes pre- or on carriage transportation by road and ferry between Finland and Central Europe. Regarding these, there may still be changes in the schedules until the congestion is cleared. We will notify our customers of possible effects on a case-by-case basis.

Road logistics:
After the strike is over, import and export traffic will not immediately return to normal. Clearing the congestion accumulated during the strike takes time, which temporarily limits capacity. Please get in touch with your contact person to find out the schedule or confirm the schedule separately in connection with the transport order.

Congestion is expected at the terminals after the strike, so it is advisable to prepare for potential delays.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the strike.
